What is Diabetes?

Diabetes  is a condition when the body not produces enough insulin, a hormone that  is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy,  it is produced in the pancreas. After having the meal, the pancreas will automatically release enough insulin to move the glucose in the blood to the cells and lower blood sugar levels. When the body fails to  make enough insulin, the glucose is accumulated in the blood, it will lead to various complications. Diabetes is also considered as a metabolism disorder. Metabolism refers to the way the body use digested food for energy and growth.

The cause of diabetes is not known. There are genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise that play roles.

There are 3 types of diabetes: diabetes type 1, diabetes type 2 and gestational diabetes.  What is Diabetes

People with diabetes have the condition with the amount of glucose in the blood is too high. It is because the body doesn’t produce enough insulin, so the glucose in the blood is too much. Even though there are a lot of blood sugar, the cells are not getting it for energy and growing needs.
