Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that develops for the first time during pregnancy. Like other forms of diabetes, gestational diabetes causes blood sugar too high. During pregnancy, you should control blood sugar levels to avoid complications for you and your baby. Blood sugar can be managed by workout, diet and medication.
Women with gestational diabetes need to have the gestational meal plan to control the blood-sugar level. With the gestational diabetes meal plan, you can manage the calories and carbohydrates to keep the blood-sugar level in control.

Here are sample of gestational diabetes meal plan:
A gestational diabetes meal plan will consist of three main meals and three snacks designed to restore blood sugar levels as well as possible. Each meal and snack have a counted carbohydrate.
Breakfast: one hard-boiled egg, one slice whole-wheat bread with fat-free margarine, 1/3 grapes, 12 ounces non-fat milk.
Mid morning snack: one slice whole-wheat breat with 1 tsp peanut butter and 8 ounces low-fat milk.
Lunch: one whole-wheat pita, blend ½ cup cooked black beans, ½ cup fresh tomato, 100 gr low-fat cheese, 1 tsp salsa and 2 tsp olive oil then placed inside the pita. Enjoy with 8 ounces low-fat milk.
Mid afternoon snack: 1 peeled and sliced apple with one tsp peanut butter and serve with 12 ounces non-fat milk.
Dinner: 3 ounce chicken breast, 4 ounces canned ring pineapple, 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds, 1 tsp sesame oil, 2 tsp soy sauce, ½ cup cooked green beans, ¼ cup instant rice, 1 tsp cornstarch, ¼ pounds strawberries.
Mix ½ pineapple juice, toasted sesame seeds, sesame oil, cornstarch and soy sauce in a bowl; pour over chicken breast. Place half the pineapple over the chicken. Refrigerate 1 hour. Remove chicken and pineapple from marinade; grill or broil chicken and pineapple until cooked. Cooked rice according to the instructions, prepare the green beans. Serve with strawberries as dessert.
